Fastest Ways To cure Eczema On The Lips

Eczema on the lips can be an extremely stressful experience. In this article we will examine the causes, symptoms, treatments and the fastest way to cure eczema on the lips.

Eczema can affect any part of the body. Although you can do a reasonable job of covering up those parts of the body which are not usually much exposed like thin, thighs, knees.

But when it affects those parts which are usually exposed like face, lips, hands & feet you are faced with a daunting task of not only treating it, but also answering questions regarding it especially when some have little knowledge about this condition and are not aware that it is not contagious.

Lips eczema can be attributed to many factors including history of eczema, extremely dry skin, allergic reactions to certain chemicals used in medications or other facial products or spicy food etc.

Symptoms of this condition include redness or puffiness around the lips, dry, itchy, cracked lips. In some cases the symptoms include swelling and oozing of puss too.

These 4 Tips Can be used to successfully treat Eczema on the Lips:

1. Ensure the area around the lips does not get dry by constantly moisturizing using either vaseline or a good lip balm.

2. Avoid using harsh chemicals or fragrances in your skin care regime. Go for mild natural products that are gentle and will not cause any allergic reaction.

3. Lifestyle changes like avoiding smoking, taking alcohol, avoiding spicy food that may irritate the mouth & lips is another way of treating this condition and trigger flare ups.

4. Looking for an effective natural treatment or cure that gives a permanent solution by addressing the root cause of the condition rather than opting for steroids or medications which will only give you temporary relief.

  6. QUESTION:
    eczema around mouth?
When i was around 8 or so i started to get very tight skin around my mouth. So i went to the doctor and they said it was eczema, now they gave me some emolient which soothed it slightly, but it had to be applied like 20 times a day. then it got worse and being around my mouth i started to lick it, now that im older i dont lick it anymore, but it is still very itchy, i dont get any flare ups any more because i am using just vaseline to sooth it, but not only is it greasy, its not very hygenic and it has to be applied by the bucketload. I then went back to the doctors 3 times and asked for something better, but i got a steroid cream, this made it much, much worse. Now i went to a commercial herbal shop here in the uk and they suggested hemp face cream, but it isn't doing anything and my skin still feels tight, any tips?

    • ANSWER:
There are a few things that you might have:
      1) irritant contact dermatitis from licking your lips so much
      2) perioral dermatitis
      3) atopic dermatitis

As someone had previously mentioned, Elidel or Protopic would be a good option for you. these are non-steroidal creams. Steroid creams in this case (especially if you are fair-skinned and blush alot) can be leading to a steroid addiction syndrome, so stay away from steroids (like hydrocortisine) the best you can.

I also think that an oral antibiotic may help you and this inflammation. A good choice would be doxycycline or erythromycin. Ask your dermatologist.

    • ANSWER:
I recommend Lysine it is sold at GNC or a Health Store and it is in a little round purse size jar and it basically has no taste and it does have a nice shine to it and it really clears up anything around the mouth fast and it isn't but maybe .99 it makes your lips feel so nice and if you get dry cracks in the corner of your lips it heals them right up fast. I did find it online but it is in a stick which I haven't used so I am not sure if it will make your lips look glossy or not ...but call around to your health food stores and I know if your Mall has a GNC then they will carry it .... Here is the link of the stick and I know it says cold sores but that isn't just all it is for ...

Any tips on how to lessen facial dermatitis (seborrhoeic eczema) around the nose, above mouth, eyebrows?
I get really bad inflammation in the moustache area above my mouth and down the sides of my nose. Sometimes my eyebrows too. The skin goes red and flakes. It is particularly bad each time I have a few days growth of stubble. Any tips would be helpful.

    • ANSWER:
The only treatment that cleared my seborrheic dermatitis was serenaskin eczema herbal remedies. It took less that two weeks to clear the skin. Their anti-eczema extract balances the immune system,so I did not experience any flare-ups since the treatment a few months ago.

  12. QUESTION:
eczema around mouth and ive tried everything!!!!!! need help?
i have eczema all over but my face is the problem. its dry flaky and as soon as i scrub off the dead skin it comes back as soon as the moisture absorbs. ive used aquaphor, cetaphil, aveno, nivea, olive oil, vaseline, and ive gone to the doctors who gave me creams with steroids and it worked but that thins and discolors your skin in the long run so i quit using it. last thing ive tried is making all natural masks and scrubs that help sooth eczema but no luck.last night i bought bio-oil but im not so sure it works considering everything else has failed me...anyone know of any good products, im desperate and a cosmetologist so i have to have nice skin to look presentable
ive gone to the doctors plenty of times and they always want to give me something with steroids which is damaging, just from using it a few years left a dark ring around my mouth. looks like dirt

    • ANSWER:
The cause of eczema is overreaction of the immune system. Identifying certain foods, chemicals, etc can be very helpful in battling this disease. I try to avoid soy and milk products which trigger my flare-ups.
After using number of prescription drugs I've turned to the natural treatments.
Now I use serenaskin herbal remedies.
After about 2 weeks of using ointment and spray my skin has been cleared up, and I continue with eczema extract, which controls the immune system. My skin has been clear for months.
It is the only treatment I have found that provides me complete relief when I use it as directed.

What to do about eczema around my mouth?
    http://www.dermis.net/bilder/CD071/550px/img0041.jpg

^ It looks like that picture. I hate having this because it hurts to eat and to smile, and it's embarrassing to go out in public with this rash around my mouth. I'm 16 and I've had eczema since I was a baby, but never around my mouth.

I have tried Vaseline, olive oil, hemp oil, Blistex, Burt's Bees, putting ice to my lips, Polysporin chapstick, changing my diet, drinking more water, and not licking my lips. Someone please help me! :(
Where I live, you need the requisition from your family doctor to get to a dermatologist. The thing is, my family doctor will not give me a requisition because he thinks he can help me himself. I don't know how much money my mom has already spent on useless creams that he has prescribed - none of the many he's given us has helped at all. If I go back to him, he's just going to prescribe me another cream or ointment or what not.

  18. QUESTION:
The hydrocortisone cream my doctor prescribed me with isn't working on the eczema i've had around my mouth.
The hydrocortisone cream my doctor prescribed me with isn't working on the eczema i've had around my mouth.

I have had eczema around my mouth for two months. When i take a shower it seems to get redder and flakier. So i decided to see my doctor. He prescribed me with Hydrocortisone cream and E45 cream. He told me to use hydrocortisone cream twice a day, morning and evening and if after 7-10 days my eczema does not clear up to visit him again. It's been four days now and I don't see a difference. Should I either:
    - Stop using hydrocortisone and start using E45 cream.
    - Carry on using hydrocortisone cream until 7-10 days.
    - Use both - but how much hours should i wait till i put the E45 cream after i put the hydrocortisone?

And, how can i take a shower without my eczema getting worse... I'm 14, this is my first time getting eczema and none of my family have had eczema or ashtma in their life

    - much appreciated.. thanks!
If your a doctor, nurse, dermatologist or had any personal experience of eczema please say!

    ty!
he told me to use the e45 cream after it's healed.. i read the back of e45 cream and it said its recommended for eczema or dry/chapped flakey skin.
It's so red, that i cant tell whether im allergic to hydrocortisone either.. Either im allergic to hydrocortisone too or it's just not doing anything. (I got the allergy from dove cream - it was pink, then i used aqueous cream and it turned red... I found out that the onlysimilarity between the two creams was "Phenoxyethanol" and hydrocortisone cream doesnt have it)

    GOD IM SO WORRIED >_<

    • ANSWER:
You really are not supposed to use Hydorcortisone cream on your face. It can cause a rash and make an existing rash worse. It thins your skin and may cause enlarged blood vessels as well. (See: http://dermnetnz.org/acne/perioral-dermatitis.html )
If it is a 1% hydrocortisone cream, you may be okay with that because it is pretty mild, but if it is a 4%, then don't put it on your face. Your doctor should know this. The E45 cream would be fine to use.

Something else you could try...get a new hypoallergenic pillow and a freshly washed pillow case. (washed with a dye/ perfume free detergent.) You could be just getting a reaction from the pillow or the laundry detergent. OR, if you got new make up, you could be having a reaction to that.

The pillow is what happened to me. I went to the doctor for months before I tried a new pillow and it went away in about 3 days after I got a new pillow and new detergent. (my old pillow wasn't old and nasty, it was a fairly new down pillow). I have not had a flare up since I got that new hypoallergenic pillow. It has been 3 years now.

      Best Wishes.

EDIT...sorry about the make up option, I just realized that you were male. oops.

  19. QUESTION:
When i take a shower, or put the cream that my doctor prescribed me with, my eczema around my mouth worsens y?
Im 14 years old and i've been suffering from eczema around my mouth for around two months. It's an allergy to dove cream that started it. My doctor prescribed me with hydrocortisone cream and e45 cream. When i take a shower, my eczema turns really flakey and red. When i apply any of these creams that the doctor prescribed me with, it turns red, but the next day its fine again. My biggest worry is the shower tho, I'm afraid to wash my face in the morning or take a shower. I really want this eczema to go, people in school say i have herpes and i suck penis. Please help me, do i have atopic eczema? No family member of mine has ever suffered from eczema.

    Thanks!

  20. QUESTION:
Pacifiers causing dermatitis/eczema around my toddler's mouth - need help?
My baby is 13 months old and for the past 5/6months she's been having red patches around her mouth which appear to be some sort of dermatitis/eczema. She mostly takes a pacifier when she sleeps and the red patches seem to be worse in the morning when she wakes up. Could this be something related to the pacifier? Would anybody know if "cloth pacifiers' are available/sold in any baby stores in Canada? I've been using Aveeno Eczema Care Cream and her pediatrician recommended 1% hydrocortisone but these haven't been very helpful. On the contrary, the hydrocortisone made her feel worse - I guess it stings. Is there anything that I could get from a drugstore to apply around her mouth just to soothe her (at times it seems very itchy - especially when the rash flares up). Is Calamine a good option? I appeciate advise from any moms/parents who have dealt with similar issues. Thanks a lot!!

  22. QUESTION:
Discoloration around mouth caused by eczema?
My daughter had eczema on the corners of her mouth when she was 11.
She is now 12, and she doesn't have it anymore, but she now has dark spots and white spots on the corners of her mouth.
Also her upper lip feels smooth, but looks dry and white.
She has low self-esteem because of this and she barely makes direct eye contact at the person she's talking too.

I think she's very beautiful, but she doesn't think so and she really envies her friends with perfect skin around their mouths.

Is their anyway to get rid of this discoloration without going to a dermatologist? Because I'm a little tight right now.
Also, we're Filipino-Korean. And she has fairly medium skin tone.
    She is currently using hydrocortisone.

red rash around my 3 yr olds mouth? eczema?
I have a 3 yr old son and a small dog half chihuahua and half dachund. Seems that when my son gets is close our dog he gets this red rash around his mouth, hes had it since he was 6 months and yes weve had the dog then, Im not sure if its eczema but can a dog cause that? also i have a 1 month old baby can she get that too? Doc just gives him creams.
my son doesnt use pacifier by the way he never liked it never used it.

    • ANSWER:
Sounds more like an allergic reaction than eczema. Are the creams anti-inflammatory? Does your son pet the dog and then put his hands in his mouth? Eczema is a chronic skin inflammation that's pretty severe (worse than a rash). If the allergic reaction is severe and repeated, I guess it could lead to eczema.

First thing to do is try to isolate your son from the dog for a while and see if it abates.

As hard as it is, it's also important to remember that developing resistance to this kind of thing is an important part of growing up. It's always a judgement call but kids will grow out of some of these irritations. Good luck!

  24. QUESTION:
i cannot open my mouth due to the eczema around it?
i have had eczema at the sides of my lips for a very long time. I have put nivea hydration cream, professional eczema cream and normal lip balm on it. However, it never goes. When i leave it a bit dry for just 30 seconds, the eczema grows and then i cannot open my mouth even when i put cream. It's so hard to eat when you can't open your mouth wide enough because it started to rip and that stings a lot. It looks so ugly as well. I walk around trying to hide my mouth but eventually they see it...

I have been to the doctors and they have just given me different ointments but they haven't been working. I think it might not be strong enough. One of the doctors said I have iron deficiency and he said i need to have more iron and my lips will gradually get better but, i have been taking iron tablets (and eating apples) but STILL no sign of it going away. To be honest, i feel like it is getting worse.

The eczema is only at the corners of my lips - no where else so i'm guessing it is not a severe case.

Will i have this disease for the rest of my life? =(

    • ANSWER:
I have eczema on the inside of my elbows, so I know it is annoying. make sure you use a medicated eczema cream, morning and night, and keep it moisturized. The best way to moisturize it is to put non scented moisturizer on it about 45 seconds after you bathe. Hope it helps, because I know it can be a pain in the butt sometimes!

Anyone know of a treatment that doesn't involve going to the doc? They don't ever tell me anything new. It looks pretty bad, will the color eventually come back? thanks for help
and please don't comment if it aint got anything to do with the question, its just wasting space and time. i'm looking for serious answers please.

    • ANSWER:
Short, supervised courses of medium potency topical steroids creams are safe and effective for flares of eczema on other parts of the body. Adverse effects of long term topical steroids include thinning of the skin (atrophy), a change in the color of some skin (depigmentation - going white), and acne-like eruptions.
If you don't like what your doctor is doing or saying or suggesting find another doctor but please don't (if indeed you are) keep using steroids.
If you are not using steroid creams that's good.
Will the colour return, maybe over time. But you may need to consider something else that a specialist dermatologist can offer.

      Best of luck.

Red circle around my mouth !?
    Hello,

I have eczema around my mouth and I used elidel for a long time and now I use a dry skin mosturizer which helped me a lot.

There is no rash around my mouth anymore, and No itchiness when I eat like before, though it's much better when using the mosturizer everyday but the problem is though I can't feel it but there is a red circle around my mouth, it shows clearly when there is light on my face, what should I do and why is it not going ?

    Thank you
